Krzysztof Bizio, b. 1970, is an architect, and owner of an architectural studio "Atelier Bizio + Ligierko". He made his debut as a playwright in 2000 with Let's Talk About Life and Death. Other plays include Toxins, Lamentation, Garbage, and Celebrations. He has also written radio plays and film scripts, as well as prose.

Krzysztof Bizio's first play, Let's Talk about Life and Death (2000), shows three members of one family who barely communicate with each other. "You want to tell me something?" - they ask each other in passing - and, without waiting for an answer, they rush to their own daily affairs. A crucial role in their lives (and in the structure of the play) is played by the telephone. It is from their telephone conversations with friends, business partners and lovers that we get to know them. They are selfish, ruthless, success-driven and self-confident.

This very simple play has a lively plot. Its strength lies in the way it shows the transition from the characters' conceit, emptiness and immorality into their feeling of defeat, fear and despair in the face of the Ultimate, and misfortunes which they largely brought upon themselves. The telephone, from which they are inseparable, is clearly a prop which shows the degeneration of communication between people in the contemporary world: we have lost the ability to talk to each other, and ignore those who are nearest and ought to be dearest. Yet the author does not completely condemn his characters; he shows that - despite everything - they are finally capable of deeper feeling and reflective thought, and that while they have lost their way, they are still very important to each other, and unexpectedly make an effort to communicate, and to begin anew.
