The exhibition Flipside brings together works by 32 artists - from the post-communist countries of Central and Eastern Europe and Russia and their counterparts in the U.S. - who have participated in the cultural exchange program ArtsLink. The exhibition includes work by Polish artists Jaroslaw Flicinski and Pawel Kruk, as well as a piece from the Centre for Contemporary Art Zamek Ujazdowski in Warsaw by American ArtsLink participant Tony Oursler. Other participating US artists who were ArtsLink fellows in Poland include Joan Jonas and Odili Donald Odita. Flipside investigates post-utopian artistic practice between the eras of communism and the integration of many Central European countries into the European Union. This is a rare opportunity to consider critical questions about international influence, cooperation, and exchange in the burgeoning cultural environments that are undergoing political and economic change.
