As in previous years, Make Nice consists of exhibitions mounted by critics and curators who take possession of White Box's exhibition space for the duration of one week each. Artur Zmijewski: Selected Works, 1998-2003 is one of the most stunning little collections of video art to hit this town in years... imagine Bill Viola meets John Cassavetes - Michael Brodeur, Weekly Dig, Boston, May 2004

Days after Artur Zmijewski's first U.S. solo exhibition at The MIT List Visual Arts Center, Cambridge, MA (Artur Zmijewski: Selected Works, 1998-2003, organized by Jane Farver, May 6 - July 11, 2004), his work The Game of Tag (1999) chosen by Norman Kleeblatt, Curator of The Jewish Museum, will be on show at Six Feet Under: Make Nice at White Box in New York City.

Artur Zmijewski (b. 1966 in Warsaw, where he lives and works), who had numerous shows worldwide, views his video art as a "commentary on the real structures of the real world." Most of his compelling videos look at relationships between so-called "normal" individuals and those with physical defects, challenging viewers' ideas about perfection and success. Zmijewski questions the limits of identity by removing the societal norms that steer perception and make us "at home" in ourselves. His video The Game of Tag (1999, 3.5 mins.) captures a spontaneous logic of that game as played by mostly middle-aged nudes, and as such, the interactions and rules of the film are focused to rely on individuals, rather than any trappings of social marking or self-image.
