Agnieszka Kurant (b. 1978, Lodz, Poland) is a Polish artist based in New York. She represented Poland at the Venice Biennale 12th International Architecture Exhibition (in collaboration with the architect Aleksandra Wasilkowska) with a pavilion presentation entitled Emergency Exit (2010). in 2013, she mounted her first major show in New York at SculptureCenter entitled exformation, a project in collaboration with the Polish Cultural institute New York. The exhibition later traveled to Stroom Den Haag in the Netherlands.
Agnieszka Kurant's work has been exhibited at the Guggenheim (2015), MoMA PS1 in Long Island City (2013), SculptureCenter, New York (2014/15)Witte de With in Rotterdam (2011), Palais de Tokyo in Paris (2004), Tate Modern in London (2006), and Zachta National Gallery of Art in Warsaw (2009), along with key exhibitions including Performa Biennial in New York (2013 & 2009), Moscow Biennale (2007), Bucharest Biennale (2008), and 2nd Ural Biennial (2012).
Kurant received her BA in Photography at The International Film School (PWSFT i TV), Lodz, Poland, in 2001; MA in Art History at University of Lodz, Poland (scholarship from Polish Ministry of Education) in 2002; and MA in Creative Curating at Goldsmiths College, University of London, in 2003 (AHRB grant). In 2009, she was shortlisted for the International Henkel Art Award at the Museum of Modern Art (MUMOK) in Vienna.
