KAROLINA BREGULA

Born in 1979 in Katowice, Poland, Karolina Bregula studied English and Swedish philology in Krakow, where she also participated in photography workshops. In 1999 she moved to Sweden in order to study GFU photography at Folkuniversitet in Stockholm. To support her studies, she worked there for one year as an English teacher in an international kindergarten, where she experienced the problem of intolerance targeted towards immigrant families in Sweden. That experience prompted her creation of a series of portraits capturing children from around the world. Simultaneously, Bregula got involved in the promotion of foreign cultures and the fight against intolerance.

She worked as a concert photographer for a Stockholm club Alhuset. In the summer of 2002 she was the official photographer of the rock festival Popaganda. In the fall of 2003 she moved to Warsaw, where she lives and works as an assistant film director. She is preparing her diploma project at the European Academy of Photography, while continuing to promote and support organizations fighting intolerance.
