Please join us for a groundbreaking conversation with Ebony G. Patterson in conversation with Krista Thompson. Featured in Caribbean: Crossroads of the World, Patterson's work explores an area of popular culture, specifically examining the identity of a powerful demographic in the island context: young black men. Ebony G. Patterson's artwork is very much a reflection on the ways in which young black men shape their identities within the Jamaican dancehall culture.

Krista Thompson is Associate Professor in the Department of Art History at Northwestern University. She is author of An Eye for the Tropics (2006) and articles in American Art, Art Bulletin, Art Journal, Representations, The Drama Review, and Small Axe. Thompson is currently working on The Visual Economy of Light in African Diasporic Practice on the intersections among black vernacular forms of photography, performance practices, and contemporary art in the Caribbean and the United States (forthcoming, Duke University Press).
