< back Street Renaming Invitation- Judge Bruce Wright Way

Tuesday, July 31, 2012 , 6:00 PM

Near the corner of 138th Street and Adam C. Powell, Jr. Boulevard

The family of the late Supreme Court Judge Bruce McM. Wright invites you and a guest to witness a very special Harlem event.

On Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at 6:00 PM, near the corner of 138th Street and Adam C. Powell, Jr. Boulevard, a street renaming ceremony will take place in honor of the late Justice Bruce McMarion Wright.

Judge Wright was a known intellectual and visionary, both on the bench and in the community. He was famously critical of the judicial system and spent his life and career fighting to expose its classist undertones. He authored books of poetry during Harlems literary heyday, and later published a narrative commenting on the role of race in the judicial system. He died in March of 2005, after 25 years as a criminal and civil court judge.

Please join us in celebrating Judge Wrights incredible efforts in the fight for social and racial justice. We look forward to seeing you on July 31st.

Sincerely,

Keith L.T. Wright
