The New York Foundation for the Arts has announced the launch of a new program to provide affordable workspace exclusively to NYFA-affiliated artists and organizations. NYFA offers a creative environment with a staff of about thirty working artists, writers, dancers, and playwrights. NYFA's offices are located in Brooklyn (DUMBO), New York. The building is wheelchair accessible and air conditioned.
The program will provide a private workstation within the NYFA office space, high-speed wireless Internet access, meeting space available by appointment, free and discounted scanning, printing, and copying services, a fully equipped kitchen, and individual phone service (available for additional fee).
To be eligible for the program, an applicant must be a NYFA-affiliated artist or emerging organization. This includes past and current NYFA fellows, SOS or BUILD recipients, Immigrant Artist Mentors or Mentees, and/or currently sponsored artists and emerging organizations. Activity must be related to the arts, literature, or cultural expression, but need not be the project for which NYFA funding or sponsorship was received. Artists working in all genres -- including graphic designers, creative writers, journalists, and art historians -- are welcome to apply.
Artists are accepted into the program on an initial thirty-day trial period, after which NYFA may offer artists an option to renew on a monthly or quarterly cycle. NYFA is offering a rate of $200 a month, or $550 for three months (after the initial thirty-day period). Visit http://www.nyfa.org/ for complete program information.
