HBK Incubates is happy to inform you about our new program for Low Income Food Entrepreneurs (LIFE), which reduces the barriers to success for low income food businesses. The LIFE program was made possible by the generous donation of Citibank, a new partner, and the ongoing support of members of the New York City Council.
The LIFE program provides financial coverage for start up costs and substantially subsidized kitchen rates for entrepreneurs who have been selling food informally (from home, on the streets, catering, etc.) and are ready to formalize and grow their business. Participants receive financial support to cover the costs of business incorporation, insurance and licensing costs as well as, English as a Second Language and Financial Literacy instruction.
HBK Incubates will have a special application form and procedure for this program. A pre-application information session will be held May 15, 2012 and applications will be accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis until the program is full. This is a pilot program with limited capacity so please encourage your program participants to apply as soon as possible.
After a year in the LIFE program, participants will transition to HBK Incubates where they can continue to grow their business for up to 4 years.
This program is open to all low-income entrepreneurs in New York City, however, is targeted to serve minority entrepreneurs in Upper Manhattan.
