STAND UP! SPEAK OUT! Assembly Programs feature instantly singable songs that address Bullying, Prejudice, our responsibility to Make Good Choices, Do the Right Thing, and STAND UP! SPEAK OUT! for everyone in our school and global community. We make a difference when we STAND UP! SPEAK OUT!, not when we are Silent Bystanders! Students get the message through the music, clapping and singing along with Sooz' original songs, instantly captivated by her catchy lyrics and contemporary sound. Musical styles range from jazz to reggae, world beat-Afro-pop to pop-gospel and more. Students become Sooz' 'back-up singers' for her high-energy solos on tenor and soprano saxophones and flute.
Sooz uses wireless mics, which free her up to move around the room as she plays her instruments, sings, and talks with students, getting everyone involved--even the students sitting in the back! She provides her own professional sound system and requires only a power outlet and adequate space for set-up. The program is modified to be age/grade appropriate for gradesK-8 or Family Audiences (should you choose to do an evening or weekend Family Concert).
STAND UP! SPEAK OUT! supports Core Curriculum Standards for Character Education, Anti-Bullying, Prejudice Reduction, Diversity Awareness, Holocaust Education, Literacy, and Performing Arts.STAND UP! Curriculum.SOOZ has been the recipient of several Parents Choice Awards for her previous CDs for children. In addition, STAND UP! SPEAK OUT! was the recipient of Learning Magazine's 2002 Teachers' Choice Award.
Presentation options: SOLO SOOZ: Sooz sings, plays tenor and soprano saxophones and flute "live," accompanied by studio recordings of instrumental tracks and background vocals. Excellent audio quality (sounds "just like the CD"). This format is most popular for school assemblies SOOZ & Her Band: For Community Concerts and special events, Sooz brings a cookin' rhythm section and back-up singers--up to 10 pieces!
