BRISC LOAN HELPS CITICARE MOVE NEW TO LOCATION & PURCHASE equipment
New York, NY - Hope Knight, Executive Director of the Business Resource & Investment Service Center (BRISC), announced today that Citicare, Inc., a private medical diagnostic and treatment center in Harlem, had been given a $250,000 BRISC to help in its relocation and to purchase new equipment.
Founded in 1982, Citicare, Inc. handled more than 15,000 patient visits from residents in the Harlem area this past year; the bulk of them were Medicaid recipients. An inadequate facility is prompting management to relocate the center across the street to a larger more efficient facility to establish new and expanded services. This new larger facility will be custom designed to eliminate all operating barriers, increase service capacity, and improve patient flow thereby increasing productivity for Citicare. The new facility will also add essential services such as dental, radiology and pharmacy. It will house the most comprehensive healthcare facility in the community that is not part of a hospital complex.
“Access to proper healthcare for residents is essential for the growth and overall stability of communities in Upper Manhattan,” said Ms. Knight. “By providing one stop medical services such as dental, expanded scope of radiology and mental health, Citicare will help to improve continuity and quality of care for patients.”
Silva Umukoro, Citicare’s President, said, "Our services are relevant and essential to the well being of the community through the promotion of disease prevention and clinical care that improve the overall health of our patients. The BRISC loan provides a unique opportunity for Citicare to expand its services."
